For the past 15+ years, I've been honing my skills as a digital product designer. My journey went something like this:
Copywriter → Graphic Designer → Web Designer/Developer → UX/UI Designer
I built my first "brochure" website in 2006. A couple of years later, I graduated to working on web applications. It wasn't until someone mentioned "UX/UI" on Twitter that I realized what I was doing had a name. Since then, I've led User Experience initiatives at companies ranging from small startups to my current company with over 1,000 employees.
While user-centric design is the foundation of all good UX, there are other critical factors, such as technical limitations, company objectives, and time constraints. The best designers can balance these competing forces while still delighting users.
Throughout my professional journey, I've gained a well-rounded perspective that helps me connect dots beyond journey maps and personas.
I'm an aspiring polymath. I love to learn.
On any given evening in our Austin, TX home, you can find me crafting a "Chopped-style" meal from our kitchen's basket of ever-changing ingredients. I'm an avid golfer (aka "lover of frustration"), and when not on the course, you can embarrassingly catch me swinging in the mirror, honing my impact position.
Fighting against golf for my time on weekends is a new infatuation with building furniture (aka, buying tools) or enjoying a patio cocktail with my beautiful wife and devilishly sweet dog. I'm equally dedicated to being healthy and eating delicious things.
